So, in the interests of making things easier for all, I am reposting the pattern here...<br />
<br />
ENJOY!!<br />
<br />
<br />
I first showcased the Lollypop Nose Reindeer tutorial in 2012 (see <a href="http://onceuponadonkey.blogspot.com.au/2012/12/ttt-christmas-gifts-for-kids-from-kids.html" target="_blank">here</a>) but as it was <i>mind-blowingly</i> popular I thought I'd write up a little update, with a printable PDF pattern AND templates. And not just one little reindeer template, oh no, now you can also make a cheeky elf and a rather handsome Santa. Fun! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/onceuponadonkey/15644936399" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Lollipop Nose Critters - Elf, Reindeer & Santa by Erin M., on Flickr"><img alt="Lollipop Nose Critters - Elf, Reindeer & Santa" height="372" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8622/15644936399_d979030784.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
I have to say, these little critters are so cute - you'll want to get the kids together and make a whole bunch. They are perfect for everyone - especially as gifts for classmates. Write a little message on the back and you don't need to include a separate card. Win win!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11112013453" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Lollipop Nose Critter - back by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="Lollipop Nose Critter - back" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3781/11112013453_8903894b87.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
Cute, yes?!<br />
<br />
Want to make your own? Well, of course you do. So... I am proud to offer everyone the tutorial and templates for FREE. Yippee! All is ask is that you rightfully respect my pattern and not re-sell it in any way, shape or form and/or any items made from it. Fair enough? Good-o. :)<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/paper-crafts/lollipop-nose-critters/77955" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>DOWNLOAD</b></span></span></span></a><br />
<span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>the free printable PDF (with templates!) </b></span></span></span></div>
<br />
Sorry but you will need a Craftsy account for the download but, if you don't have one already, never fear - they are free and easy to sign up for. Plus they are definitely worth having to access some amazing and creative patterns and classes. You'll be gobsmacked, believe me.<br />
<br />
I truly hope that you have fun creating these lovelies. Please, please, please send me pics if you make them as I'd love to see!<br />

<br />
<b>Once Upon a Donkey</b><br />
<br />
The reason for the switch is simple. I am looking to avoid confusion between the lovely <a href="http://www.missymack.com/" target="_blank">Missy Mack</a> and myself. Previously it wasn't much of an issue but of late, with both of us active on Instagram and within many of the same circles, it's just been getting silly (and, I suspect, people wanted to strangle us). Out of the two of us it made sense for me to make the move as Sam already has an established business (no, she didn't ask me to do this but I bet she appreciates it!). So... here we are.<br />
<br />
I hope that this new name is memorable (and unique!) and that you will continue to follow me in whatever capacity that suits you best. I've changed the buttons on the side to reflect my changes, though those that follow me on Pinterest or Instagram will automatically switch over to my new accounts. Flickr is a different story, unfortunately and is a work in progress. Ditto for Facebook.<br />
<br />
I thank you for your understanding and patience while I make the transition. Hopefully it isn't too painful for anyone!<br />
<br />

Long time, no speak. Miss me? I missed you! My apologies for the <i>ahem</i> 6 months of bloggy silence but these days you are more likely to find me over on Instagram (<a href="http://instagram.com/missymaccreations" target="_blank">@missymaccreations</a>) so drop by and say 'hello'!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.mudpiesandpins.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Christmas-Link-Party-Button2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.mudpiesandpins.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Christmas-Link-Party-Button2.jpg" height="200" width="166" /></a></div>
<br />
So, why am I back now? Well, for the <a href="http://www.mudpiesandpins.com/ho-ho-ho-and-on-we-sew/" target="_blank">Ho, Ho, Ho... And On We Sew</a> linky party, of course! Huge thanks to Paula of <a href="http://www.mudpiesandpins.com/" target="_blank">Mud, Pies and Pins </a>and Fiona of <a href="http://celticthistlestitches.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Celtic Thistle</a> for asking me to be involved. <br />
<br />
In honour of hosting this month, I have a fun little pattern to share with you - the Santa Belt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QwNMYSImlEk/U_CgRVyTQrI/AAAAAAAABF8/58DDoclcnl4/s1600/Santa%2BBelt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QwNMYSImlEk/U_CgRVyTQrI/AAAAAAAABF8/58DDoclcnl4/s1600/Santa%2BBelt.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Yes, it is paper pieced but never fear - it is super easy! Even if you've never paper pieced before this is a very do-able design. Don't be afraid. Just maybe read <a href="http://quietplay.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/foundation-paper-piecing-hints-and-tips.html" target="_blank">this awesome post</a> by the amazing <a href="http://quietplay.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Kristy</a> first.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/14952766342" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Santa Belt paper pieced pattern by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="Santa Belt paper pieced pattern" height="300" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3871/14952766342_de44736b5a_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Finishing at just 3" x 4" this little piece of cuteness can be used for a variety of Christmas-themed goodies, either singularly or in multiples, such as: coasters, mug rugs, mini quilts, hot pads etc etc etc. Let your imagination go crrrrrazy.<br />
<br />
I had fun making mine into little zip pouches, perfect to hold gift cards for those impossible-to-buy-for friends.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/14930116516" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA" height="400" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5574/14930116516_9c34468764_n.jpg" width="366" /></a></div>
<br />
And, look, an elf belt too! ;)<br />
<br />
Would you like to make your own? Then hop, skip and jump over to <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/user/464774/pattern-store" target="_blank">my craftsy store</a> where you can download the pattern for FREE. If you do make one (or a hundred) be sure to let me know. I would love to see!<br />
<br />
Big thanks to Kristy for working her magic with EQ7 and helping me make my little pattern look slightly more professional.<br />

FINISHED!Yippee! I am happy to present my first finish for 2014 - a sweet baby quilt dubbed "A Star is Born".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/12513777325/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="A Star is Born quilt by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="A Star is Born quilt" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7331/12513777325_610615497b.jpg" height="400" width="361" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Truth be told, I actually finished this one weeks ago... but I've been particularly lazy since then, if you hadn't already noticed. Sorry about that.<br />
<br />
As you can see, the design consists of wonky stars in a random layout - navy and green predominately, with a few baby ones in orange and red for some extra interest.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/12513815085/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="A Star is Born quilting by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="A Star is Born quilting" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7403/12513815085_5c96d2c6c9.jpg" height="288" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I kept the quilting simple with a big 'X' through the middle and then lines radiating outwards, 1" apart. I love this quick and easy design.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/12514305914/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="A Star is Born quilt - back and binding by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="A Star is Born quilt - back and binding" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7334/12514305914_ff72c3bb20.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
As this quilt is destined for a little man I had a bit of fun with the backing fabric and used some sweet and colourful dinosaurs. I love them!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/12514334344/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="A Star is Born quilt - back by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="A Star is Born quilt - back" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7424/12514334344_ba1a456075.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
For the binding I stuck with my go-to stripes (also used <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/12/a-most-unusual-bear.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://www.missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2011/08/big-unveiling.html" target="_blank">here</a>). It matched perfectly! Unfortunately that was the last of that fabric. :(<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/12514375584/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="A Star is Born quilt by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="A Star is Born quilt" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7342/12514375584_490c955095.jpg" height="318" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This baby quilt finishes at 40" square and will be gifted this weekend. I hope he loves it. <br />

<br />
I may have been shockingly unproductive last time I joined the Finish Along but new year, new start. Right? This year the amazingly talented <a href="http://thelittlestthistlecraftshop.blogspot.co.uk/p/finish-along-2014.html" target="_blank">Katy</a> will be hosting the linky parties and, as I know she'll make all sorts of snide comments if I don't finish <i>something</i>, I figure that this will be just the motivation I need to get moving. Hehehe. ;)<br />
<br />
So, here's my list -<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><b>1. A Star is Born quilt </b></span></span><br />
<br />

<a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/wip-star-is-born.html" target="_blank">Blogged</a></div>
<br />
I do so enjoy adding a gimme to my list, if only to prove to myself that I'm not a complete failure. This baby quilt is currently sitting next to me waiting to have the binding hand sewn - a job I plan to start later today. ;)<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><b>2. Pixelated Heart quilted wall hanging </b></span></span><br />

Speaking of bub, I also need to get this quilt finished before she arrives. Borders, basting, quilting and binding. Um, yeah, I can do that. Like totally. ;)<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><b>4. Donkey quilt</b></span></span><br />

Yes, this one is truly embarassing - but I have to include it. One day, one day.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Lastly, my greatest WIP to date - our baby girl. She's due on 30th March so <i>should</i> be here before the linky party closes on 6th April (well, she'd better be!). Whether I get to blog then or not is another story though. ;)<br />
<br />
<br />
Well, those are my most pressing WIPs... though I also have a looooong list of projects that I'd like to start <i>and </i>finish within the next few months. You know, things like: fabric baskets, another baby quilt, thank you gifts, something for me. Oh, and the sewing room and nursery need to get done too. Ha! How's that for optimism!? <br />
<br />
What are you hoping to have finished this quarter?<br />

Sorry! I do, though, think that it is high time I blogged about this little library bag - which I finished over a month ago for my friend's then-nearly 1 year old darling daughter.<br />
<br />
<center>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="500" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11363198894/player/42276ca97a" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="368"></iframe></center>
<br />
I modeled the size and shape after <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/duck-duck-bag.html" target="_blank">this library bag</a> so it just consists of a simple tote construction with a pocket on the front.<br />
<br />
<center>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="375" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11363188806/player/bc2b36d038" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="500"></iframe></center>
<br />
As you can see, I chose very girly-girl fabrics and then couldn't resist adding a little
elephant applique to jazz things up. I'm definitely in an elephant
loving phase at the moment.<br />
<br />
<center>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="500" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11363299243/player/f07853739d" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="357"></iframe></center>
<br />
That's it basically. It was gifted along with some fun little board books, but I can totally see it being used to carry around all sorts of precious goodies, as Miss N's imagination grows. I hope she likes it!<br />

<br />
I have LOVED making these Square in Square (also called "economy") blocks. I used <a href="http://www.craftbuds.com/square-in-square-quilt-block-paper-piecing-tutorial/" target="_blank">this template</a> but you can also find a non-paper pieced tutorial <a href="http://www.redpepperquilts.com/2013/08/economy-block-quilt-in-progress-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a> on Rita's blog. In fact, there is currently an informal QAL being run on Instagram - check out #economyblockalong to see all the amazing creations (and possibly join in yourself!).<br />

<br />
I initially didn't plan to make this an iSpy quilt - or worry about fussy cutting - but quite a few pieces of cuteness did manage to sneak in and I adore those little touches. A few of my favourite blocks include:<br />

<br />
LOVE those seahorses and little scooter kids! Huge thanks to <a href="http://theelvengarden.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Jess</a> for generously sharing her scraps.<br />
<br />
Now, earlier in my post I did say "finished" top as I'm still considering adding a border, a la <a href="http://bemused.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83451d68969e2019b02067d97970c-pi" target="_blank">this quilt</a>. I think it will provide the perfect frame, whilst also giving a little more length and width (currently she measures 52" x 40 1/2"). Typically, though, I can't quite decide what colours to use so I might just be asking my IG peeps for advice in the coming days. You have been warned. ;)<br />
<br />
Lastly, before I run, I've had a few people ask lately how bub is going and where we're at, so I thought I'd give a quick little update. As of last Sunday I am 28 weeks (due 30 March 2014) which means I'm into the final trimester. Whoop! Of course, this is an exciting milestone for me and I'm soooo looking forward to counting down these final weeks until we get to meet little Miss.<br />

I am already feeling huge which is a worry for things to come (ha!)... but, honestly, besides from a few days here and there feeling sick or in pain, I've had a very cruisey time so far and count myself very, very lucky. Fingers cross things continue. ;)<br />
<br />
So that's where bub and I are currently at. It is such an amazing and exciting time and I am loving it. Thanks to you all who have been sending lovely messages and/or have been acting as a sounding board. I truly appreciate the love!<br />

<br />
Hellooooo. I hope you all survived the crazy Christmas and New Years period. Hubby and I had a lovely break in Adelaide, South Australia, with his family but we're now back home and looking forward to a HUGE year ahead, with hopefully lots of sewing, work around the house and, of course, special moments galore with baby girl. Exciting!!<br />
<br />
Before all that, though, I thought I'd better do a final check over my Making Christmas list - just to see how I did. Admittedly not all was completed but I am rather happy with how I went.<br />
<br />
Here's the final summation...<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11415865603/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Personalised patchwork cushion by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Personalised patchwork cushion" height="379" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3730/11415865603_d8ce6462b0.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I decided on a rather simple patchwork construction, using all the same fabrics as her quilt. I wanted it to match without being overly matchy-match. If that makes sense. I'm not sure I quite achieved that but fingers crossed it isn't too much when they are paired together.<br />
<br />
For the initial, I stuck with a dark pink solid, attached in a
raw edge applique style. I do so love this quick and easy method and,
well, it gives me a chance to practise my FMQ. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11415766834/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Personalised patchwork cushion #4 by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Personalised patchwork cushion #4" height="300" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3667/11415766834_4e212cdb66.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I also stuck with simple when it came to the quilting - straight lines 1/2" from each seam. Quick, easy and effective.<br />
<br />
The binding is just the same solid used for the initial. I think it frames the madness of all those prints really nicely.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11415750046/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Personalised patchwork cushion by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Personalised patchwork cushion" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7458/11415750046_853515b92a.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
And, then, for the back I just had to use the adorable print which inspired the whole colour scheme of the original quilt - these owls by Ann Kelle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11415741316/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Personalised patchwork cushion by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Personalised patchwork cushion" height="399" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5530/11415741316_4d16d2c2ab.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So cute and wacky!
<br />
<br />
As per usual, a zipper finishes it all off.<br />
<br />
The final size is a rather large and cuddly 22" square - with a 24" insert used in these photos, as that's what I had on hand (hence the extra puffiness). <br />
<br />
And that's it - all ready to travel east next week for the big day. Hope Miss L likes it!<br />

<br />
This month's theme for Le Challenge was PRECIOUS and it really got the cogs turning. My original thought was "diamonds" but after much umming, ahhing and Google image searches I went off the idea. Maybe one day I'll have a crack but not right now. So, what next...???<br />
<br />
Well, due to the soon-to-be-aired-in-Australia telemovie about INXS being advertised of late, I just couldn't get this song out of my head...<br />
<br />
<center>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/_VU9DjQpvMQ" width="420"></iframe></center>
<br />
... and, wouldn't you know it, one of the lines just happens to be "I love your precious heart.". Hello plan! ;)<br />
<br />
I pinned this <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/48061920997073288/" target="_blank">Pixelated Heart cushion</a> by <a href="http://sotakhandmade.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">s.o.t.a.k handmade</a> a few weeks ago with the intention of totally ripping it off for bub's nursery and, seeing as I love to kill multiple birds with one stone, here is my entry.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11397387193/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Pixelated Heart mini quilt by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Pixelated Heart mini quilt" height="384" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2856/11397387193_e3c1f0703b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
For the background I moved away from the low volume squares used in the original work - and went with a solid in pale aqua. I was nervous at first but really like the effect and it'll give me a good opportunity to practise some more of my mad FMQ skillz too. ;) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11397399213/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Pixelated Heart mini quilt - close up by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Pixelated Heart mini quilt - close up" height="300" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5532/11397399213_043cc91383.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I am mixing things up a little, though, and not intending to make this into a cushion - but rather a mini wall hanging. I figure that baby girl probably has enough cushions for now (though I do have another planned... cough...).<br />
<br />
Stay tuned! :)<br />

As I was playing hostess for week 8 (you saw my post and tutorial for the <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/making-christmas-week-8-is-here.html" target="_blank">Lollipop Nose Critters</a>, right?!) I missed the link up - so thought an update was now in order.<br />
<br />
Here's how my list is looking, with under a fortnight to go. Ahh! <br />

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/2205846@N20/" target="_blank" title="Bear Paw"><img alt="Bear Paw" height="200" src="http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z475/Lucy_Brennan/bearpaw_zpsde0dcfbb.jpg" style="border: medium none;" width="196" /></a></div>
<br />
I was first inspired to make a Bear Paw quilt when <a href="http://www.charmaboutyou.com/" target="_blank">Lucy</a> and <a href="http://rainbowharequilts.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Janine</a> joined forces and announced their relaxed, no-pressure <a href="http://rainbowharequilts.blogspot.com.au/2013/05/bear-with-us.html" target="_blank">bear-paw-along</a>, waaaay back in May. I straight away wanted to play along but it wasn't til a few weeks later when (1) I found this gorgeous Paddington Bear fabric... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/9088236109" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="FABRIC - Paddington Bear by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="FABRIC - Paddington Bear" height="279" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7396/9088236109_140d21dd34.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
... and (2) a good <i>English</i> friend announced her pregnancy... that a plan was formed.<br />
<br />
Here's a rough sketch of what I was thinking...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11228614096" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Planning bear paws quilt by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="Planning bear paws quilt" height="400" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3704/11228614096_260186b77f.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
... and here's how it, kindly dubbed "Paddington's Paws" finished up, at roughly 40" x 40". <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11217885884" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Paddington's Paws quilt by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="Paddington's Paws quilt" height="400" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3794/11217885884_32612aca48.jpg" width="336" /></a></div>
<br />
It is definitely bright and colourful. Just perfect for the little man born just a mere 2 weeks and 2 days ago.<br />
<br />
Even though I've been a bit brave recently and have started experimenting a little more with new-to-me quilting techniques - I kept this one quick and simple with my usual go-to wavy lines.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11217890425" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Paddington's Paws quilt by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="Paddington's Paws quilt" height="400" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3828/11217890425_a61ded9d41.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Maybe not the best choice to truly showcase the Bear Paws blocks but I do quite like the crinkled effect it finished with.<br />
<br />
A stripey binding completed the look.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11217889834" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Paddington's Paws quilt by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="Paddington's Paws quilt" height="400" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3727/11217889834_b7b7ff49e7.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I have discovered that I'm quite partial to a stripey binding. Unfortunately I originally had this fabric pegged for my wonky stars quilt - so fingers crossed I still have enough!<br />
<br />
Lastly, here it is being modeled outside by my wonderful hubby. I just can't decide which is cuter. ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
And, yes, that is a "truffle shuffle" tee. It's one of his faves and everyone seems to comment on it. I still have no idea what it's all about...<br />

I mean, how could I not?! When I mentioned to Cat, one of the creators, that I'd definitely be buying her if my bubba turned out to be a girl... she then informed me that they also stocked larger 18" panels for cushion covers. Well then... SOLD!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11184549093/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="#widrn Admiring my awesome new Big Hearted Girl cushion panel by @hellofromcat and @hellofromvee. <br />
When she arrived I may have let out a little squeal - I loved her even more. She's absolutely gorgeous! I was desperate to make her into a cushion <i>right then and there</i> but couldn't decide exactly what to do.<br />
<br />
In the end, I stayed with simple - to allow her to shine all on her own. All I added was some cute blue pom pom trim - an idea I stole from Cat herself!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11185056723" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Big Hearted Girl cushion by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="Big Hearted Girl cushion" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5528/11185056723_f747d58e2c.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
Ahh... swoon!<br />
<br />
I am so loving the pom pom trim too! It was a first for me (but not the last!) so I followed <a href="http://fussycut.blogspot.com.au/2011/03/tutorial-pom-pom-trim-pillow.html" target="_blank">this tutorial</a> for help. Admittedly it was a bit fiddly and a few pom poms might have not quite made it through unscathed - but it is totally do-able and worth it. Just remember that slow and steady wins the race. ;)<br />
<br />
For the back I stuck with my usual zip method, and a few bright red prints that I had on hand.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11184860765" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Big Hearted Girl cushion by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="Big Hearted Girl cushion" height="395" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3670/11184860765_6842a65891.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Unfortunately I only had a 16" insert spare - so I'll have to buy a bigger one when I'm next at the shops. I do so like a plump cushion.<br />
<br />
And, because I know you're dying to see, here she is hanging out with the <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/cutie-scootie-patootie.html" target="_blank">Cutie Scootie Patootie</a> and <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/its-a_19.html" target="_blank">Haphazard Chevron</a> cushions.<br />

<br />
I am loving how they look together!<br />
<br />

<a href="http://rainbowharequilts.blogspot.com/2013/10/making-christmas-2013-week-1.html" target="_blank" title="MAKING CHRISTMAS 2013"><img alt="MAKING CHRISTMAS 2013" src="http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd507/rainbowhare/MakingChristmaslabel150.jpg" style="border: none;" /></a></div>
<br />
Today I am stoked to be hosting this week's Making Christmas link up with a super fun & <i>super easy</i> tutorial so please come on in.<br />
<br />
If you are new to my little part of Blogland, my name is Erin and I hail from the gorgeous Perth in Western Australia. I have dabbled with various craft forms nearly my entire life and even though I now spend more time quilting than anything else, I still can't resist the occasional opportunity to play with paper, scissors, glue, felt pens and, of course, glitter. So, on that note...<br />
<br />
... please allow me to re-introduce the rather adorable <b>Lollipop Nose Reindeer</b>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/8249324936/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Lollypop Nose Reindeer - the finished product by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Lollypop Nose Reindeer - the finished product" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8341/8249324936_c8342cc9f8.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I first showcased this tutorial last Christmas (see <a href="http://onceuponadonkey.blogspot.com.au/2012/12/ttt-christmas-gifts-for-kids-from-kids.html" target="_blank">here</a>) but as it was <i>mind-blowingly</i> popular I thought I'd write up a little update this year, with a printable PDF pattern AND templates. And not just one little reindeer template, oh no, now you can also make a cheeky elf and a rather handsome Santa. Fun! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11111685825" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Lollipop Nose Critters - free pattern by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="Lollipop Nose Critters - free pattern" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5500/11111685825_8f04f2e230.jpg" height="372" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
I have to say, these little critters are so cute - you'll want to get the kids together and make a whole bunch. They are perfect for everyone - especially as gifts for classmates. Write a little message on the back and you don't need to include a separate card. Win win!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/11112013453" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Lollipop Nose Critter - back by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="Lollipop Nose Critter - back" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3781/11112013453_8903894b87.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
Cute, yes?!<br />
<br />
Want to make your own? Well, of course you do. So... I am proud to offer everyone the tutorial and templates for FREE. Yippee! All is ask is that you rightfully respect my pattern and not re-sell it in any way, shape or form and/or any items made from it. Fair enough? Good-o. :)<br />

<span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>the free printable PDF (with templates!) </b></span></span></span></div>
<br />
Sorry but you will need a Craftsy account for the download but, if you don't have one already, never fear - they are free and easy to sign up for. Plus they are definitely worth having to access some amazing and creative patterns and classes. You'll be gobsmacked, believe me.<br />
<br />
I truly hope that you have fun creating these lovelies. Please, please, please send me pics if you make them as I'd love to see!<br />
<br />
That's me done for this week. A BIG thank you to <a href="http://rainbowharequilts.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Janine</a> and <a href="http://www.makingrebeccalynne.com/" target="_blank">Rebecca</a> for organising this fabulous blog hop and allowing me to play host.<br />
<br />
Next Saturday will be hosted by my lovely friend <a href="http://www.charmaboutyou.com/" target="_blank">Lucy</a>. In the meantime, if you'd like some more information on <i>Making Christmas,</i> then check out Janine's post <a href="http://rainbowharequilts.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/making-christmas-2013-week-1.html" target="_blank">here</a>. <br />
Firstly is the Bear Paws quilt which is now at the binding stage which means, drum roll please, he's nearly finished! That is very exciting news as baby boy was born just last week so we will hopefully be visiting for our first lot of cuddles very soon!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Sorry about the dodgy IG pic. :)<br />
<br />
Next up is my Wonky Stars quilt for another friend's brand new bub. I've finally decided on a quilting plan for this one so will be basting it soon. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10437236255" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="A Star is Born quilt top by Erin, on Flickr"><img alt="A Star is Born quilt top" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5508/10437236255_6424799839.jpg" width="380" /></a></div>
<br />
Both these quilts are on <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/an-update-on-making-christmas.html" target="_blank">my Making Christmas list</a> so it will be nice to have them done and dusted. :) <br />

<br />
Speaking of Making Christmas, I've also been busy finalising my tutorial for this Saturday. Yes, that's right, I'll be hosting then so be sure to pop back and see what I'm sharing. I promise - it's cute and fun! :) <br />
<br />
Lastly, I've also been mulling over my entry for the next <a href="http://le-challenge.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Le Challenge</a> (theme: PRECIOUS) and now that I've finally settled on what I'm making it's time to start gathering supplies and getting to it. Yay!<br />

<br />
Will you be playing along too? There is a $25 voucher to the Fat Quarter Shop up for grabs. The link up opens on December 15.<br />
<br />
Think that's enough for now. What about you? Been working on anything special? Please share!<br />

<a href="http://le-challenge.blogspot.co.uk/" title="Le Challenge"><img alt="Le Challenge" src="http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z475/Lucy_Brennan/lechallengebutton2_zps18ffdfca.png" style="border: none;" /></a></div>
<br />
Yes, I've done it again. I had <i>the best</i> of intentions to link up a project to last month's Le Challenge but, alas, I just didn't get it finished in time. Typical! But, seeing as I've had this project in my head ever since I first heard the theme of STRIPES I figure I'll still credit the amazing Lucy and Nat with the inspiration. :)<br />
<br />
So, where exactly did I take my stripey-ness? Well... I went straight (pardon the pun) to the drool-worthy Haphazard Chevron Pillow, from <a href="http://www.quiltinghappiness.com/" target="_blank">Quilting Happiness</a> by Diane Gilleland and Christina Lane.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7335/9616092480_05e59a1b85_m.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7335/9616092480_05e59a1b85_m.jpg" width="272" /></a></div>
<br />
I am seriously considering picking up a copy of this book (the reviews are awesome!) but, lucky for me, I didn't have to wait to do this project as it is kindly being offered for free <a href="http://crafternews.crownpublishing.com/2013/08/28/haphazard-chevron-pillow-from-quilting-happiness-by-diane-gilleland-and-christina-lane/" target="_blank">right here</a>. Thank you <a href="http://crafternews.crownpublishing.com/" target="_blank">CrafterNews</a>!<br />
<br />
Regular readers will know that I'm keen to make a few cushions/pillows for bub's room and I thought this would definitely fit the bill. Problem is - what colour scheme to use??? Pink or blue??? Well, truth be told, we actually now know...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10941908294/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Haphazard Chevron Quilted Cushion by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Haphazard Chevron Quilted Cushion" height="400" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3777/10941908294_5046751053.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Yep, it's a GIRL!!!<br />
<br />
So, I went with dark and light pink solids with a touch of white for some added punch (thanks <a href="http://quietplay.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Kristy</a> for that oh-so-perfect suggestion).<br />
<br />
The pattern was super easy to follow and I even managed to slightly adjust it so that my finished cushion came out at 14", rather than 12".<br />
<br />
For the quilting (which isn't part of the pattern but I couldn't resist) I again used the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and give a new-to-me style a shot. In this case it was concentric circles, as per <a href="http://bloomingpoppies.net/tutorials-2/quilting-concentric-circles-tutorial/" target="_blank">this tutorial</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10941777875/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Haphazard Chevron Quilted Cushion by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Haphazard Chevron Quilted Cushion" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5527/10941777875_c2c21ee6fb.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Ok, so she's not perfect but I'm happy enough. Embrace the wonk, I say. The hardest parts were the smaller centre circles but they aren't totally impossible. I can definitely see myself giving this style another go at some point in the future. I do quite like the effect and would love to see it off-centre as well.<br />
<br />
The back is just my usual style zip enclosure, using some of the leftover pinks from the top. It really is nothing special (ok, I forgot to get a pic and it's dark now) - just imagine light pink on top and dark pink on the bottom, with a lovely label slapped on there somewhere. ;)<br />
<br />
Obviously, the binding is just the dark pink. I must say, I do like binding on cushions. It really finished them off.<br />
<br />
And, just for one more little picture, here she is chilling out with her partner in crime, the <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/cutie-scootie-patootie.html" target="_blank">Cutie Scootie Patootie</a> cushion.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10942003023/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Haphazard Chevron Quilted Cushion by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Haphazard Chevron Quilted Cushion" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5494/10942003023_da38081936.jpg" width="332" /></a></div>
<br />
What a pair! ;)<br />
<br />
So, there is my stripe-inspired project for last month's Le Challenge. Pop over <a href="http://le-challenge.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/le-challenge-7-stripes.html" target="_blank">here</a> to see where others went. There are some great ideas! Also, this month's theme (and the last for the year) has now been announced - PRECIOUS - so I must, must, must try a little harder to get something done on time. A few ideas are already brewing. What about you? Planning to play along?<br />

<br />
I haven't done an update on Making Christmas since my first list (blogged <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/06/tgiff-owl-plus-quilt.html" target="_blank">here</a>) so thought it was high-time I checked to see where I'm at. Thankfully, I'm happy with my progress - and even a little surprised. Go me! ;)

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>7. Softies for Mirabel</b></span></span><br />
<br />
I've decided on an easy pattern (<a href="http://www.shinyhappyworld.com/store/products/bartholomew-bunny-softie-pattern" target="_blank">Barthelomew Bunny</a> by Shiny Happy World) and have already cut out most of the pieces. Now I just need to rummage through my mess and relocate my felt stash for the hands, feet, nose and tail.
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10684662964/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Bunny pattern pieces - ready to sew by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Bunny pattern pieces - ready to sew" height="313" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3787/10684662964_2364196ddc.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course, the rummaging-through-my-mess part doesn't sound like my idea of a good time and, as I've been itching to do something about the horror that is my sewing room I thought I might add to my original list...<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>8. Reorganisation of my Sewing Room (*new*)</b></span></span><br />
<br />
Granted, this isn't a make but, as it is integral to the success of future endeavours, I'm going to include it here.<br />
<br />

I mean, seriously, something has to be done! My first plan is to steal <a href="http://www.buttonsandbutterflies.com/2013/10/wip-wednesday-countdown-to-christmas.html" target="_blank">these gorgeous scrap buckets</a>. ;)<br />
<br />
<br />
So how are your makes for Christmas shaping up? Don't forget to keep checking in each Saturday for added inspiration - and keep remembering to link up with your progress reports (*ahem*).<br />

BUT... Toffee Shards is finished! Can I get a 'whoop'?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10528110414/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Toffee Shards quilt by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Toffee Shards quilt" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7381/10528110414_e2fd6f441a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Making this baby quilt (measuring 38.5" x 38.5") has been an eventful journey. My original concept was shattered toffee, in honour of Le Challenge, <a href="http://le-challenge.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/le-challenge-4-toffee.html" target="_blank">back in June/July</a>. It was pictures like below that inspired me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzc-mUEHdZd1X3ZreM4To_P1pwoDIIPaWTFCbyUNEBcsvqAmNePVAdF0EDSOhE8TBMtap8Yc3aoTeBxXwl4TAHZa7_6aHzHdZ7GwY03BZ94Y0xi3oHu8EOrS-TRRzp3AuIW9t68vgaDfw/s200/P1010249.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzc-mUEHdZd1X3ZreM4To_P1pwoDIIPaWTFCbyUNEBcsvqAmNePVAdF0EDSOhE8TBMtap8Yc3aoTeBxXwl4TAHZa7_6aHzHdZ7GwY03BZ94Y0xi3oHu8EOrS-TRRzp3AuIW9t68vgaDfw/s400/P1010249.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
To (sort of) achieve this look, I went with a simple HST design, in a variety of yellow and brown solids... but, even though I had the top finished in plenty or time - I forgot to link up. Doh!<br />
<br />
After that... I totally fell out of love. They aren't "my" colours. I wasn't feeling it. It just wasn't happening. I tried a number of times to start quilting... but each attempt ended in complete frustration and time with the unpicker. Ugh. So... Toffee Shards languished.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10528151586/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Toffee Shards by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Toffee Shards" height="300" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5531/10528151586_5736ce001f.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Thanks, though, must go to my hubby and the lovely <a href="http://quietplay.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Kristy</a> who continually encouraged me to get this done AND for <a href="http://rainbowharequilts.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/making-christmas-2013-week-1.html" target="_blank">Making Christmas</a> (yes, I'm ticking this <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/making-christmas-2013.html" target="_blank">off of my list</a>!)
for pushing me that extra little bit I needed. It worked and I was
happily able to gift it yesterday morning, to a gorgeous 5 month old
boy. <br />
<br />
To continue with the shattered toffee theme I ended up
settling on simple, crazy lines (yes, my go-to quilting at the moment)
which helped turn this unloved piece into something nearing completion
and starting to warm my heart again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10528169036/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Quilting on Toffee Shards by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Quilting on Toffee Shards" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7430/10528169036_67e7539280.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I just finished it off with more of the orange-y solid, which really makes those colours pop.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10528409136/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Binding Toffee Shards. :) by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Binding Toffee Shards. :)" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5500/10528409136_ff5d8634f4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
As the Mum not only loves neutrals but also green, I chose this adorable
dinosaur themed fabric for the back. It is perfectly boy-ish! Funnily
enough, I have since found out that it is actually Buddy, a character
from TV's Dinosaur Train. Hmm... who knew??<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Sorry about the shadows but this was the quickest photoshoot ever - on the way to gift this quilt. Nothing like doing things last minute!<br />
<br />
Anyhoo... YAY! It's done. I am happy, happy, happy. :)<br />

<br />
Thanks again to those who helped me stop procrastinating... and to Lucy & Nat of Le Challenge for being the inspiration behind the whole idea.<br />

<br />
Wow, what an honour! I am so, so, so stoked that Wendi loved what I made with her own stitchery. Phew!<br />
<br />
For this prize I will receive a $35 voucher to the <a href="http://www.shinyhappyworld.com/store" target="_blank">Shiny Happy World shop</a>. I've had a look already (of course!) but just can't decide between all the goodies. Ahh! More time is definitely needed but I will let you know what I finally decide on. Fun!<br />
<br />
After all that I am feeling very, very humbled. Thank you Fiona (& judges) and Wendi!<br />
<br />
Lucky, lucky me! :) <br />

<br />
And, surprisingly, I've already managed to finish the top. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10437236255/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="A Star is Born quilt top by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="A Star is Born quilt top" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5508/10437236255_6424799839.jpg" width="380" /></a></div>
<br />
I had originally pulled a gorgeous stack of blues and greens - but then couldn't help adding in a few cheeky smaller stars in red and orange. I like the punch.<br />
<br />
This baby measures 40" x 40" so should be the perfect size for little bub. All I have to do now is decide on the quilting and get it done. Hmm... any ideas???<br />

<br />
Bring on the incredibly poor photos...<br />

<br />
Sorry about those - I hope you were able to see the beauty. They really are bright and fun!<br />
<br />
I've now finished 21 out of the projected 63 - with the aim to make these 6" blocks into a 54" x 42" sized quilt. I'm 1/3 of the way there!<br />
<br />
Ok, I'm heading back to the machine for some more chain piecing. Better pics next time, I promise!<br />

<br />
The amazing Wendi of <a href="http://www.shinyhappyworld.com/" target="_blank">Shiny Happy World</a> recently hosted the first <a href="http://www.shinyhappyworld.com/2013/09/finished-stitches-embroidery-challenge-starts.html" target="_blank">Finished Stitches Embroidery Challenge</a> - and I was lucky enough to be able to participate. Yay!<br />
<br />
The premise was simple (originally blogged <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/finished-stitches-with-wendi-gratz.html" target="_blank">here</a>) - purchase one of Wendi's fabulous embroidery samples and then finish it off by making it into <i>something</i>. Anything. Whatever. All we were required to do was <i>finish it</i>.<br />
<br />
When the shop opened I was quick to snap up my favourite of all Wendi's designs - Duck, Duck, Robot (pattern available <a href="http://www.shinyhappyworld.com/store/products/duck-duck-robot-embroidery-pattern" target="_blank">here</a>). I then had to wait patiently for it to arrive (thankfully the project deadline was extended as international post can be sloooow) but, believe me, it was worth it. I was not disappointed!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10260825064/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Look what just arrived. I'm so excited! @wendigratz #shinyhappyworld #finishedstitches #embroidery by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Look what just arrived. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I had originally planned to use this in a cute little cushion, with the embroidery in the centre and then a log cabin or some such surrounding it but, after much umming and ahhing, I ended up settling on a fun and definitely colourful library bag.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10283315383/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA" height="400" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3776/10283315383_60009a8a10.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Wendi's original stitched design features prominently as the front pocket, and is then teamed with this fabulously bright alphabet fabric, which also features on the back.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10283204966/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA" height="400" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2872/10283204966_650b9601a3.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
For a bit of interest I also cut out some of the letters to spell out BOOK BAG underneath the ducks and robot. These were then appliqued on and stitched around in black, to echo the quilting on the fabric.<br />

<br />
The lining adds even more colour with these orange and white swirls and the whole bag is finished off with some tone-on-tone dark blue handles.<br />
<br />

<br />
Easy!!<br />
<br />
And here it is in action. A perfect Christmas present (with a store-bought book not the library ones!) for a soon-to-be<i>-</i>1-year-old, little boy,. Start them young, I say! :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
As is my usual modus operandi, I've just scraped into the deadline with this one, with projects due <i>today</i>. Phew! Voting then opens tomorrow, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs. Exciting!! If you are interested then head over <a href="http://www.shinyhappyworld.com/finished-stitches-embroidery-challenge" target="_blank">here</a> to see all the finished projects. There are some beauties!<br />
<br />
Thanks to Wendi for being soooo generous with her gorgeous samples. It was fun!<br />

<br />
<div align="center">
<a href="http://rainbowharequilts.blogspot.com/2013/10/making-christmas-2013-week-1.html" target="_blank" title="MAKING CHRISTMAS 2013"><img alt="MAKING CHRISTMAS 2013" height="200" src="http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd507/rainbowhare/MakingChristmaslabel150.jpg" style="border: medium none;" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
Not only is Making Christmas about sharing fabulous ideas - but it also a
great way to keep accountable and to encourage each other to GET IT
DONE! Admittedly, my record of ticking off lists is rather pathetic
(please, no one mention my lack of a follow-up post for <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/fal-3rd-quarter-here-i-come.html" target="_blank">Q3 of the FAL</a>)... BUT I'll give it a shot and see where it gets me. ;) <br />
<br />
Also, I will be hosting with a cute little project on Saturday 30th November so be sure to pop back then but, before that, check out <a href="http://rainbowharequilts.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/making-christmas-2013-week-1.html" target="_blank">this post</a> to see the full line up and all the amazing bloggers involved this year. I am a bit out-classed, to say the least!!<br />
<br />
Ok, onto the list...<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>1. Robot Embroidery Library Bag</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I
thought I'd start easy and actually give myself an achievable goal - as
this one is actually due tomorrow for the Finished Stitches competition
over at <a href="http://www.shinyhappyworld.com/" target="_blank">Shiny Happy World</a>. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
If you don't know what I'm on about then you can see my original post <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/finished-stitches-with-wendi-gratz.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Stay tuned for the big reveal in the coming days. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>2. Personalised Cushions / Pillows</b></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have a vague idea to whip up some cute little cushions/pillows for a few darling little kidlets in my life. It's one of those ideas that is still at a maybe-it'll-happen-but-no-biggie-if-it-doesn't stage so will see. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the past I have made ones like these... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
... but I'm thinking of changing it up this time. I also love <a href="http://www.charmaboutyou.com/2013/10/personalised-birthday-cushions.html" target="_blank">these ones</a>, recently made by <a href="http://www.charmaboutyou.com/" target="_blank">Lucy</a>. Again, I'm not sure what I'll do so don't hold your breath. ;)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>3. Kindle Cover</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As my Mummy had a recent tumble, we bought her an early Christmas present to help pass the time while she's laid up - a Kindle. I've been trying to talk her into getting one for ages but she just couldn't or wouldn't entertain the idea of not "reading a real book". I'm now pleased to announce that she is a complete and utter convert - and I am smilling smugly. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyway, I've promised to make her a cover so her new best friend stays warm and safe between uses. It'll more than likely match the library bag I made her last year - but, weirdly, don't seem to have a photo of. Imagine dark blue with touches of blue and green DS. Got it? Good. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>4. Bear Paw Quilt</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Remember this one?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Don't say it, I know, I know - it should be done already but it's really, really not. I have, though, finished off the last two blocks so it's only a matter of putting it together, quilting... you know the drill. The bub this one is intended for is due next month so I need so move my bottom. A-huh.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>5. Toffee Shards Quilt</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another baby quilt that has been languishing and should have been gifted by now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Craig is seriously on my back about this one so I'm sure I'll be pressured to finish it off soon. You know, before the little man turns 18. Maybe. ;)<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>6. Wonky Stars Quilt</b></span><br />
<br />
Yep, another quilt for another gorgeous boy who has only recently arrived into our world. I've pulled the fabric for this one - blues and greens - and am thinking of something <a href="http://jennymakesstuff.blogspot.com.au/2012/01/wonky-stars-finished.html" target="_blank">like this</a>. Time to get a-cutting.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>7. Softies for Mirabel</b></span><br />
<br />
It's on again so, <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/search/label/Softies%20for%20Mirabel" target="_blank">like the previous two years</a>, I plan to make a softie or two for disadvantaged Australian kids.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/meetmeatmikes/9660673603/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="SOFTIES FOR MIRABEL by meetmeatmikes, on Flickr"><img alt="SOFTIES FOR MIRABEL" height="640" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3720/9660673603_b9e9fd1f5c.jpg" width="451" /></a></div>
<br />
I'll write more on this soon - when I dedicate a whole post to this wonderful cause. I really just need to decide what to make. Last year I sent in... DONKEYS!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/8270227719/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Donkeys for Mirabel, Dec 2012 by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Donkeys for Mirabel, Dec 2012" height="292" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8081/8270227719_001245d775.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Well, that's my list. I'm laughing even just imagining getting all that done before Christmas but one can only try. Wish me luck! ;)<br />
<br />
So, what are you planning for Christmas? Write a list and play along - we'll be your cheer squad! And don't forget to check out the fabulously inspiring posts each week. I can't wait!<br />

<br />
Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to spend a glorious month exploring Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia with my brand-spanking new husband... so... when <a href="http://celticthistlestitches.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Fiona</a> announced the Holiday Memories Mini Quilt Competition I just <i>had</i> to enter.<br />
<br />
Much to my mother's horror, I've always been fascinated by motor bikes and the like. Even as a little girl I was known to wind down my window at traffic lights to tell the black-leather-clad, bearded bikie next to us that I liked his bike. So, needless to say, the craziness of the streets of Vietnam and - ALL THOSE SCOOTERS - was rather exciting for me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KSM9o0jKJpU/UkzgvM5UpMI/AAAAAAAAA_Y/Pmrls-KcqJk/s1600/Scooters,+Ho+Chi+Minh.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KSM9o0jKJpU/UkzgvM5UpMI/AAAAAAAAA_Y/Pmrls-KcqJk/s400/Scooters,+Ho+Chi+Minh.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I mean, they are EVERYWHERE. Watching it, it looks like total chaos but somehow they make it work, without too much hostility. Oh, and the amount of people and/or objects they can fit onto one, itty-bitty bike is truly impressive. Everyday we would see a new sight that would make us giggle and exclaim in awe.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DV3UvHjRTNE/Uk32z2nP5AI/AAAAAAAABAM/wqZLsCDvk6Y/s1600/P5070045.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DV3UvHjRTNE/Uk32z2nP5AI/AAAAAAAABAM/wqZLsCDvk6Y/s400/P5070045.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course, I was super dooper keen to have a ride but, after the Bali Scooter Incident of 2012 (that's another story but let's just say that I was in trouble when I came home with a few scrapes and bruises), I had promised my Mum not to ride/hire/drive/play on/touch any scooters or motor bikes. BOO!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1X45-vHwvKc/Uk33DRBEnpI/AAAAAAAABAU/esyZPLMbkGg/s1600/P5110264.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1X45-vHwvKc/Uk33DRBEnpI/AAAAAAAABAU/esyZPLMbkGg/s400/P5110264.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Bali 2012. Riding a pink scooter! :)</span></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
This time, I was a good daughter and obeyed the rules (well, actually, my husband had also been threatened so he kept me in line) but I couldn't resist being a little cheeky and sending this photo to Mum, after just a couple of days into the trip. ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWqRH9_WaUbF-no3In6YsiWDs-_oAyQG4gvY0T2BzUY2v_UVZTVeJeXLgCxQuarge53EplfTwcyC3u1HQPhoY7fk1_pHGWiBU7RYS5TJxUXMyyBjxpAMhSWF5u_0YS-W0CrW8IY-h7KeXH/s1600/Motor+bike+for+rent,+Ho+Chi+Minh.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWqRH9_WaUbF-no3In6YsiWDs-_oAyQG4gvY0T2BzUY2v_UVZTVeJeXLgCxQuarge53EplfTwcyC3u1HQPhoY7fk1_pHGWiBU7RYS5TJxUXMyyBjxpAMhSWF5u_0YS-W0CrW8IY-h7KeXH/s400/Motor+bike+for+rent,+Ho+Chi+Minh.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
She wasn't impressed. ;)<br />
<br />
Anyway, regardless of the lack of a ride (again... BOO!), the image of the scooters and the craziness of the Vietnam roads has really stuck with me. Therefore, for my Holiday Memories entry, please let me introduce the <b>Cutie Scootie Patootie</b> cushion / pillow.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10077074793/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cutie Scootie Patootie - front by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Cutie Scootie Patootie - front" height="379" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3668/10077074793_fa4c9f893d.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10076724174/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="QUILTED PILLOW - Cutie Scootie Patootie by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="QUILTED PILLOW - Cutie Scootie Patootie" height="345" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5520/10076724174_f2970d6155.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This baby measures a generous 20" x 20" and will become a floor cushion for my soon-to-be girl (that could actually be a boy but oh well...). Regular readers will have no doubt noticed the same colour scheme that I am using for <a href="http://missymaccreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/wip-my-biggest-and-best-yet.html" target="_blank">these blocks</a> because, as my energy is severely depleted at the moment, I couldn't help but kill two birds with one stone.<br />
<br />
The scooter itself is paper pieced, using <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/other/vespa-scooter-pp-pattern/51318" target="_blank">this fabulous pattern</a> by <a href="http://shape-moth.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Shape Moth</a>. I then got brave and tried some FMQ pebbles. This was a totally new thing for me so they are far, far, far from perfect but, as it will be staying within this house and will be hopefully be much loved by a littlie, I figured it was the perfect opportunity to let-go and give free motion quilting a shot.<br />
<br />
In the interests of keeping it real, here's a close up. Feel free to skip over this photo as quickly as possible. ;) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10076813074/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cutie Scootie Patootie - close up by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Cutie Scootie Patootie - close up" height="300" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5347/10076813074_a53b164ebf.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Oh well, we all have to start somewhere.<br />
<br />
The log cabins were then added in a QAYG style - a method I've been meaning to try ever since watching the first few lessons of the Quilt-As-You-Go Patchwork Bags class on Craftsy. It was fun, easy and very quick!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10076921506/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cutie Scootie Patootie - border by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Cutie Scootie Patootie - border" height="300" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2875/10076921506_ffb64c02fa.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
After that is was just a simple matter of whipping up a back (with a zip for ease of washing), sew on a label and add the binding.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10076767334/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cutie Scootie Patootie - back by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Cutie Scootie Patootie - back" height="348" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3776/10076767334_63fb726cc8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
I love, love, love it. It is so bright and fun and scooter-licious! And look how perfectly it goes with the crocheted blanket my Aunty made me when I was a bub!<br />
<br />
Only thing that concerns me - if my daughter (ok, ok or pink-loving son!) ever gets a bike license I may have to face the wrath of one very angry Nanna. Or two?! ;)<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vpxGvcCyTjM/Ukt0gGa-SXI/AAAAAAAAA_I/Fwt5_WbtSh0/s1600/Baby+12w2d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vpxGvcCyTjM/Ukt0gGa-SXI/AAAAAAAAA_I/Fwt5_WbtSh0/s400/Baby+12w2d.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Yes, we're having a baby!!!<br />
<br />
I'm currently 14w4d along, with bub expected at the end of March. After last year's heartbreaks it was a nervous few months for Mr C and myself but now that we've reached the 2nd trimester and all is looking fabulous we have started to relax and get excited. Yippee!<br />
<br />
Of course, I am already planning the nursery and all the little bits and bobs that I MUST make before bub arrives. At this point we don't know the sex but I'm hoping to talk Mr C into finding out asap so I can really get into it. The organiser and control-freak in me does not like surprises!<br />
<br />
I do have the strongest feeling it is a girl, though, so I have bitten the bullet and started on a couple of things, using a sweet colour scheme of pink, red and aqua. I know, I know, I just can't help myself!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/erinofmissymac/10048113124/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Square in Square quilt blocks by Erin @ Missy Mac Creations, on Flickr"><img alt="Square in Square quilt blocks" height="398" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5496/10048113124_3681a78355.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
For these 6" finished Square in Square blocks I used the free paper piecing template (available for download <a href="https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_c9mPWDjT75OWE1MGMwNTQtNGFkOS00YzJkLWI0OGQtNGU2ZTk0OThmZmEx/edit?usp=drive_web&pli=1" target="_blank">here</a>) from Tamiko of <a href="http://patchworknotes.blogspot.com.au/2011/11/do-you-tell-people-that-you-sew-or.html" target="_blank">Patchwork Notes!</a> They will (hopefully) eventually be a quilt, based on <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/48061920994675725/" target="_blank">this cushion</a> by the uber talented <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wooden_spoon/" target="_blank">Rachel</a>. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?!<br />
<br />
Ok, I'd better be off to get things done before I crash this afternoon. <i>Morning</i> sickness my a$#* ;)<br />
