Final Christmas Wrap-Up

For many of you, Christmas is but a distance memory but, for us, it really only finished yesterday as we finally caught up with my parents for lunch.  As always, Mum and Ted put on a gorgeous spread, including our traditional prawn cocktails and glazed ham.  YUM!

Now that that's done, I can showcase the last few gifts I made as presents - a tray mat for my Mum and a personalised pillow for baby Mitchell.

First up is the tray mat, made using Delighted by the Quilted Fish for Riley Blake and linen.  The white and natural striped binding just happened to be in my stash - perfect!

I still need a bit more practise on the binding side of things but I'm definitely improving.  Slowly but surely.  For the quilting I just did some wavy lines, as per my first quilt.

Now that I have a new machine (oh yes, it is true... more to come) I'm hoping to expand my quilting repertoire in the near future.  Any ideas on where to start??

My other secret project was a 18" personalised pillow for my friend's baby boy, Mitchell.  As she is a fan of turtles the design for this one was a total no-brainer.

Front
Especially after I saw (and fell on love with) this adorable backing fabric, Snails and Turtles for the Love U collection by Deb Strain.  As with all my kiddie pillows, this is removable for cleaning and has a zip closure.  I just need to work on matching up my prints a little better.

So cute!  Lastly, because I couldn't help myself, I continued the theme by adding in a cute little snail on the front.  I get the feeling that those guys are best buds.  ;)

So there you have it, another Christmas done and dusted.  This year, though, I may need to ask Santa for a few photography classes...

  1. Your appliquéd pillows are amazing, Erin!!! As well as the wonderful designs on the front, I love the way you co-ordinate the fabric on the back.

If you did, well even if it's a nice domestic, practice free motiong! more and more, if you haven't already start with leaves/ hearts vines... the hearts ande leaves are almost the same shape, one just has the vein inside, one doesn't :-)

  5. Glad you had a good Christmas. I don't have a good camera, so have to have really good natural light. Look forward to seeing your projects in 2012! The pillow is very cute.

  7. The tray mats are great! Thinking about keeping my eyes out for trays throughout the year (on clearance or thrift shop) to re-do and then make these to go with. How fun!
